Last evening we went to a screening of a documentary film about white dirt. Today, we attended a dine and dash (actually, a lunch and learn) event at the Columbus Museum about sustainable local farming. Tonight, we’re going to a dinner/birthday party in the historic district, so we won’t be able to attend this night’s edition of the Uptown Spring Concert Series. Tomorrow morning, the Broadway Market Days will be cranked up to full throttle and a couple of the farmers we met today will be selling their eggs, flowers and vegetables. Just to the west of us, whitewater rafters and kayakers are fully engaged in the boiling rapids of the Chattahoochee River on the world’s longest urban whitewater venue. New restaurants are popping up, craft beer is white hot and the summer isn’t even here yet. Sometime in June, Phenix City will open a food truck plaza, just over the 14th Street pedestrian bridge to fuel the appetites and food interests of the growing pedestrian thoroughfare that is developing in and around downtown.
Close your eyes and look down the road 10 or 15 years. Wow, the things I see are blowing my mind. I just hope I’m here to see them. This is the time to find something that you love, grab onto it and make a difference. Pitch in! Make your mark! Live a life that matters! Sorry for this short post. I’m excited about my hometown. I hope you are, too.

My mother in law wants to visit Spring Harbor in the next few months as a possible Next Phase Life Plan. I am thrilled at the prospect of having another strong connection to my unofficial hometown. I’ll hit you up for a must see and do list before our trip down!
