Ya gotta have friends!
As songs go, “Ya gotta have friends” and “I get by with a little help from my friends.” Check out the before and after shots of the den where my peeps helped scrape off the last bits of glue that didn’t want to let loose.
Donna, Barbara, Julie, Malinda and Amy spent the better part of Sunday helping me keep my sanity. If I had to go over those walls another time, I surely would have lost what little is left of my feeble mind. They donned gloves and took up water bottle and scraper and went to work like pros. Afterwards we dined al fresco, our first real meal at the Munro house. (The Sonic and Arby’s that Rush and I often choke down between projects doesn’t count.)
I tried to give a toast that night, but the words got caught in my throat, so I could only mouth the words, “thank you” through grateful tears. Here’s what I meant to say:
Even die-hard DIYers don’t enjoy scraping wallpaper, and the most masochistic among us could find better things to do with her time on one of the loveliest Sundays we’ve had this year. So I stand in awe of my friends, you wonderful women who came not only willingly, but cheerfully to help us toil. Lucky would be the person who could claim one or two such friends. To be surrounded by five such women humbles me. Cheers to a job well done, to fellowship and fun, and most of all to true friendship.
Oh, and HALLELUIA!!!! I get to move on to sanding the dining and living room walls!!! (Did I say that??? Did I say I GET to move on to sanding? With enthusiasm even? I seriously need to get a life. I think the dust has gone to my head.)
