This day was not so bad. I had 2 mg of Xanax in my system when it came time for my shrink wrapping test run. I really wouldn’t have cared if they had told me they wanted to stick me in the eye with a used corn dog stick that someone had picked out of the sawdust on an old fairground. I’ll do a better job of describing what will go on tomorrow during the actual radiosurgery.
But for now, I’ve completely swallowed my pride and have decided to show you a video of the shrink wrapping test run.

I intend to make tomorrow’s radiation treatment my bitch!

Reminds me of one of those infomercials where you can put 4 or 5 sweaters in the bag for easier storage. Interesting video though. Looks like you handled it well. Tomorrow’s going to be a piece of cake!

OMG! As if it wasn’t bad enough to be working to assimilate the naked strippers on the circus trains, I now get to mull over Miss Daisy being shrink-wrapped to the tunes of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town!”
Seriously, you seemed to do just great! You & Jill have been on my mind all day, so it was great to see everything go so smoothly. More of the same tomorrow & you’re done!

OOMMGG!!! In all your descriptions – vivid and eloquent as they were – it never did justice to what showed on the video. This video was truly worth 3,482 words Mikey! So glad you seemed to be handling it so well and so glad Hoke was with you (and the infrequent commentary by JT was funny, she nailed it with the “looks like you’re on special tomorrow” line. We love both you guys and it was lonely today without you. Know that we will be thinking, praying and singing tomorrow…(you know Callie and I have the entire Sound of Music score memorized although she hogs the really high soprano parts!)

Waiting to hear that tomorrow is over for you. I’m having a hard time with my dear friend of 45 plus years going through all this. Love you and praying that you will benefit greatly from this treatment.

That was RIVETING! Who knew 9 minutes of shrink wrapping could be so compelling. I was surprised to find you so lucid. I would have thought the xanax would make you loopy. Which, I admit, would have made the video even more entertaining.
Thanks for keeping us close!
Angela White Marine says
Thank you, Xanax…good job, Mike and Jill. Keeping you in my prayers.
Carol Etheridge Wingard says
Mike, I watched all of your video. 2 irreverent comments first: 1. The scariest part of the video for me occurred before she covered your stomach. 2. If you do not watch Dexter, do not ever watch it. Lot of shrink wrapping occurs on that show.
Serious comments: I love that you let Jill video it (good job with the Flip, Jill). Your attitude is inspiring. I am glad you went with the 2 mg. of Xanax. You cracked me up with the thank you to Xanax — 2 of them!

You better believe you have all of us back home loving, praying and rooting for you tomorrow!! You know now you can do this and it will be over before you know it!! Love you and tell Hoke to keep us posted!! Di & Paul

Wow! That is some amazing technology – what one can do with shrink wrap and a vacuum cleaner.
I’m glad you could feel that your friends and family were definitely in that room with you.
Y’all will be home before you know it!
Peace and prayers.

Really thinking about you today!

Mike, You are a Mighty Warior indeed! I can certainly see how the shrink wrap might cause anxiety- thank God for Xanax for sure! What amazing technology. You seemed to hadnle it beautifully. You and Jill continue to be in my prayers and will not be far from my thoughts today!
John Adams says

Being one that shares your little fear, I found this fascinating. Thanks for sharing.

ok….I have been MIA for a few days….and I cannot believe what I have missed. Believe me when I tell you that my mouth was ajar…and you know why. You are my hero. You know what tickled me…other than the first time you were thanking Xanax….was when the nurse joined you in those praises. Kudos to the camera crew!
