At 4:45 p.m. this afternoon, I got my second communication from a medical oncologist โ today. Dr. Pippas called me this morning and Dr. George emailed this afternoon from his email account at Duke. Since I sent Dr. George access to my MyMDAnderson.org account, I was able to get the latest labs, doctors’ notes, pathology reports and radiology reports to him straightaway.
Dr. Michael Morse heads up Duke’s inpatient HDIL-2 program. Dr. George has already assigned someone to pull my records together so that he and Dr. Morse can discuss my case. If everything looks good, he’ll be in touch to set up a meeting with the two of them and Jill and me.
I’ve said this so many times before: How do these guys do what they do. I know they work ridiculous hours during the day and then they find the time to contact anxious patients on a Sunday, when they ought to be resting. My hat is off to medical professionals everywhere. They are dedicated, good people!
I like the feeling of forward momentum.

I just hope you and Jill are able to relax a bit during all of the waiting. I can’t imagine. I pray for a lot patience, love, and understanding for you guys. You two set such a strong example of what a “Power Couple” is really about. Thanks for sharing and keeping us posted. Love you. Ann

I have been following your blog for probably a year now, and keeping you in my prayers ever since seeing a blog post from a relative of yours who was a high school / college classmate of mine. (I went through my own cancer journey starting in 2008, and have had good experiences with JBACC doctors, including Dr. McIntosh, Dr. Currie, Dr. Pippas and Dr. Ciuba. I had Dr. Gorum for back surgeries a few years before that.) I pray you will get through this very difficult part of your journey, and come out with a cure on the other side.

There is a certain weird peace that comes after making a difficult decision, even if you don’t like your choices. I hope you are there. You are showing your children what real courage looks like.
We will continue to be your prayer warriors and cheerleaders.
