I received the call as promised this afternoon with details about the start of the next leg of our cancer journey. We will be meeting with our new team on Monday, July 16 at 9:30 a.m. on the 7th floor at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. My genitourinary medical oncologist will be Dr. Lance Pagliaro.
I’m assuming we’ll fly out of here on Sunday and return on Tuesday. We’re still not sure of how the trip will go down. Even though I’m fairly sure another surgery will be called for, I doubt that we’ll go out there with plans to stay for a surgery. But, everything is on the table, and we’ll need to be light on our feet to make sure we make exactly the right decisions.
We continue to be hopeful and I continue to feel great, despite what is going on inside of me. We appreciate the showering of love and concern. I literally spend each day with the feeling that we are being wrapped in the loving arms of this community. It feels mighty good and we’ll take it with us as we go to Houston. As soon as I have more information, I’ll be posting it here.
Have a safe, wonderful Independence Day holiday!

Dear Mike and Jill – All our prayers are coming your way for a great trip. The folks there are amazing and if they prescribe surgery seriously think of having it there. It seems far away but not really when you see all the areas of expertise they have in one central location. Where we have a guy who knows this or that they have teams, and a wing dedicated to a particular need. Fred and Susan are there now and will likely be there for another month. His surgery is cheduled for the 7th. We just got home from there. If we can help with anything, please call. Like fly into Hobby, its closer. All the hotels in the medical area have shuttles to the hospitals so you don’t have to drive. They also have medical rates that are half of regular. We stay at the Crown Plaza which also has a free full breakfast. Know you are loved and prayed for every day.

Praying for a good report Mike. Keep the faith. You are an inspiration to all of us. You epitomize my favorite quote, “the only handicap in life is a negative attitude.” We all know that you do not have a handicap.
